A Professional Home: Introducing The Lookout!

At Plume Films, our journey has always been about the craft of storytelling, but stories need a place to grow. We are incredibly excited to share a project that has been quietly developing behind the scenes. Later this year, we will be launching The Lookout, a brand new co-working residency situated in the iconic Eastbourne Town Hall.

This isn’t just a new office for us, it is a wholesome new direction for our studio and the wider community. We are moving towards a more collaborative, grounded way of working, and we are not doing it alone. We are thrilled to announce that we are partnering with the brilliant team at 8bit-arcade to build and craft this space from the ground up.

Two Worlds, One Vision

The collaboration between Plume Films and 8bit-Arcade brings together a unique blend of digital craft and community spirit. While we focus on the artisanal side of film and animation, 8bit-Arcade brings a legendary energy for play, creativity, and local engagement. Together, we are designing a space that feels less like a corporate office and more like a professional home, a place where the "craft" is at the heart of everything we do.

We are just at the beginning of this journey. The floor plans are being finalised, the vision is being sharpened, and the hammers are nearly ready to swing. It is a slow, intentional process, because we want to ensure that The Lookout becomes a resilient ecosystem for Eastbourne’s best creative minds.

What to Expect from the Residency

Launching later this year, The Lookout will offer a professional residency model that moves away from the transient nature of hot-desking. We want people to settle in, inhabit their desks, and feel part of a permanent collective.

By working within the masonry walls of the Town Hall, we are creating a hub that offers:

  • The Main Production Suite: A collaborative anchor for long-form creative projects.

  • Focused Studios: Quiet, light-filled rooms perfect for deep work, colour grading, or audio production.

  • A Shared Social Heart: A space to gather, swap ideas, and enjoy a cuppa with fellow residents.

Connecting with the Collective

As we move closer to our launch, we are hard at work crafting our digital presence to match the bold, high-contrast aesthetic of our physical home. In the near future, we will be launching a full dedicated website that will serve as a digital gallery for the space, allowing you to see exactly how it works and where you might fit in.

For those who are already feeling the pull of the collective, we will be providing an opportunity to offer expressions of interest through an integrated form on our upcoming landing page. This will be the first step in starting your journey with us and securing your place in our professional ecosystem.

In the meantime, you can follow our progress and find more information through our new social handles. We are focusing our initial push on Facebook and Instagram, ensuring that the energy of the room is felt on every screen.

Keeping it Local

This project is a commitment to keeping talent in our town. By partnering with 8bit-Arcade, we are ensuring that The Lookout is built by local creatives, for local creatives. We are building inspiring pathways for emerging talent to work alongside established professionals, ensuring that the next generation of storytellers has a place to thrive.

We are just getting started, and we cannot wait to welcome you into this new space later in the year. It is going to be something quite special.
